Don’t know when this was posted, but don’t see any replies that reflect your concerns. This one does.

I had a macroprolactinoma, responded beautifully to Cabergoline. Then I developed horrible internet porn addiction. Ruined my marriage, etc. Took 2 years to destroy my life and trace it back to Dopamine Agonist. Had the surgery, tumor is slowly returning after 9 years but life is good now.

I was diagnosed and unsuccessfully operated on for a prolactimona 24 years ago. Following the surgery, I took bromocriptine and my prolactin level came down from over 700 to nearly normal in the mid-teens. About 10 years after my inital diagnosis and surgery, I had the first seizure that I recognized. I began taking topamax, and that generally controlled the seizures - but they didn't stop. I have changed neurologists and endocrinologists, and I have since changed the bromocriptine to cabergoline, and the topamax to keppra. I'm more comfortable with these medications, experiencing increased sexual desire and the total elimination of seizures. There may be side effects regarding judgement and decision-making on these drugs, but now that I'm over 65 and retired, I just blame all of that on getting old.

Wow, this is very interesting. My daughter, now 28 was on cabergoline for 10 years. She then had successful surgery 2 yrs ago for prolactinoma. She is having a hard time making career decisions and seems to make bad decision after bad decision, almost split personality. Worries me.

Hello. I have just rejoined this site after a number of years. My 27 year old son has just revealed to us that he had developed a gambling addiction. He has been on treatment for a macroprolactinoma since age 15. (pergolide, cabergoline and for the past 5 years, norprolac) The gambling addiction is new and we are very frightened by it. His counsellor is the one who told him that his medications may be contributing to his compulsive behavior. Prior to this, we realize that he has had "obsessions" with a variety of things, - video games, movie series, etc and he has always been poor with money management. We are trying to connect back with his Endo. for advice . We understand that there is a class action law suit in Canada in regard to people developing compulsive gambling addictions while being on Mirapex. My son's dosage of dopamine agonists has always been higher than normal due to the resistant nature of his tumor. I am concerned and frightened about what is ahead.
