There is a lot of information here on our website that may be helpful to you prior to your appointment with an endocrinologist. Here is a link to a section about symptoms, diagnosis and treatment options:

The more you know going into your appointment the better prepared you will be to help your doctor figure out the next steps. One thing I recommend is making sure your endocrinologist has experience treating people with pituitary tumors. Pituitary tumors can be very complex and the pituitary  impacts so much of our day to day lives. Not all endocrinologists have the training necessary to properly treat pituitary tumors, so finding a pituitary specialist is important. Here is a link to our list of pituitary specialists:

The article in the link above about Finding the Right Doctor will also be helpful in determining whether you need to seek a second or third opinion.

I hope this information is helpful to you. You are also welcome to contact us if you would like more information or if you have any questions. We can be reached at (805) 416-4000 or via email at [email protected]

6mm Prolactinoma recent diagnosis was created by naflatem72

I was seeing my neurologist for epilepsy and headaches and he ordered an MRI because bloodwork showed my prolactin levels to be 37.5 which is high.  The MRI I had done was with contrast & without including pituitary gland.  It showed a 6mm microadenoma on my pituitary gland.  I have had an increase in the frequency of my headaches and migraines also & noticed breast discharge.  I had a hysterectomy 6 years ago so no irregular menses.  But I'm tired a lot and feel a serious lack of motivation to leave my house.  I'm working full time.  I have a referral to an endocrinologist on Feb. 14, 2019.  I'm anxious to see if they will put me on Cabergoline to shrink the tumor, I've read a lot about that.
