I cannot gain weight. It's not that I'm losing it fast but if I'm not following the regime for a few days, I lose all the mass that I gained in two months.

I can understand your concerns about the unexplained weight loss I have heard of this from other patients who have had either adrenal issues or thyroid issues so make sure those hormones are thoroughly checked. I am not a medical professional, so I don't know what could cause your symptoms this is just based on what I have heard from others.

However, I consulted with one of our medical advisors and their recommendation is as follows:

Usually a 2 mm adenoma does not cause the headaches described. (I included the information from your other post.)
But it is worth getting all the pituitary hormones tested and to not skip any.
I had one case of acromegaly presented initially as central sleep apnea. Her sleep doctor sent her as she didn’t fit the criteria. But usually these cases
gain weight rather than losing weight.
Best thing is to go systemic and check all the hormones with the dedicated pituitary MRI to make sure it is not close to the optic/ eye nerves.

I agree with this completely and think that with all of your symptoms you need a full workup and your results need to be reviewed by a pituitary specialist or team of specialists.

I hope this helps. Let us know how your appointment goes.

Take care,

Excessive weight loss; pituitary adenoma was created by LucyG0877

Hi all,

I'm experiencing excessive weight loss so much so that its scarying me.  1 year ago I was 150 lbs., today I am now 128 lbs.  2 weeks ago at the doctors office I weighed 131 lbs in 2 weeks I dropped 3 lbs.  My heart beats really fast and my hormones are really off.

Next week I have an apt with my endocrinologist and she will order the hormone panel and a 2nd MRI, this time with contrast.  What questions should I be asking about this rapid weight loss?   I don't know what to do.  I feel nausea all the time and forget about eating.  I feel like my metabolism is also fast tracked, I am 5 ft 6 in.

Anyone else experiencing alot of weight loss with their tumor?
