Basic and clinical research programs address the pathogenesis of pituitary tumors, the physiological mechanisms of pituitary hormone secretion, and improved diagnostic and theraputic approaches in patients with pituitary and hypothalamic pathology. Several current protocols utilize experimental medications for the treatment of pituitary tumors.
The University of Michigan is a nationally and internationally recognized pituitary center. As such, we participate in clinical trials to test new compounds for treatment of pituitary diseases. Our patients have research to unique and effective therapies that are not available elsewhere.
Our pituitary neurosurgeons have extensive experience in minimally invasive procedures, including advanced endoscopic techniques for complex pituitary surgery.
