PNA Spotlight: Dr. Christie Turin More

This month the PNA spotlight shines on Dr. Christie Turin More.   Dr.  More graduated from the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia Facultad De Medicina Alberto Hurtado in 2013. She works in Aurora, CO and 4 other locations and specializes in Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism and Internal Medicine.  Dr More Interned  and complete her Residency at Baylor College of Medicine.  She received a Fellowship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. More answered some questions from the PNA. Here are her answers.

  • What inspired you to choose your career path?

I decided to pursue a career in Endocrinology because it’s one of the medical subspecialities that integrates the understanding of the cellular and biochemical pathways into direct patient care.

 

  • What is the primary focus of your work/research?

My clinical practice is focused on patients with pituitary, adrenal and thyroid disorders with focus on endocrine neoplasia. 

 

  • What do you consider to be the future of your field?

Research advances and new discoveries in the field of endocrine will continue to provide the tools that will directly benefit patient diagnosis and treatment. 

 

  • What should patients know about your field/what deserves more recognition/awareness?

Endocrinology is a field the studies the interactions of body hormones. The pituitary is the master gland, that controls the function of most other endocrine glands. Timely evaluation and proper management are critical. 

 

  • What would you like to convey about yourself to your patients?

I am passionate about Endocrinology, and I am always looking to challenge myself and learn new things.

 

  • Why did you get involved with the PNA; what is the extent of your involvement.

I learned about PNA because of my colleagues who are part of this association.
